It's been awhile since I've pulled out my sewing machine... and when I did pull it out, I realized it'd been damaged on our move down to AZ. So, when I found out a friend was having a baby girl, I had to borrow my sis-in-law's sewing machine to make her this gift.  I wanted to send her something extra special, as she was having her 3rd baby girl (and what could be sweeter?)! When I was looking through my fabric, I came across these prints, that I'd forgotten about. I love them and felt they'd be perfect for my friend. She said she was hoping to not use pink for her 3rd girl... was sick of pink. These have a tiny bit of pink, but I love all the other colors in them. And they still feel dainty and feminine.  I saw this baby dress at Target and had to get it for her.. even though it is pink. I loved the mixed knit and fuzzy white fabric and the bow on the front is just so sweet!! I wish I had a baby girl to put this dress on!!   I made a gray taggy bla...

A sweet friend of mine is expecting a baby girl soon. I like to match the gift set I give friends with colors or themes I know they like. My friend stenciled her nursery wall in a beautiful birch tree design. When I saw the fabrics below online, I knew they were the ones for her.  How cute are these deer with florals on their antlers? I made a pacifier clip to match the set. I like to use this tutorial  for pacifier clips. (I did attach elastic on mine instead of Velcro though.) I found these ribbons at Hobby Lobby for the taggy blanket. The whole set together. I hope my friend loves these like I do. I'm so excited to meet her baby soon!

A friend asked me to make her a set of burp cloths and a taggy blanket for a baby gift. She wanted a jungle theme. I had a lot of fun looking at fabrics online (where I do all my fabric shopping nowadays). These are the ones I ended up choosing: an elephant, citron green scribble, and alligator print from Ed Emberley's Happy Drawing collection. I love them. I bought green minky for the blanket and some assorted ribbons from Hobby Lobby in green, bright blue, and gray. (Finding ribbons that looked jungle-y was harder than I thought it'd be. The geometric ones reminded me of the alligators and felt tribal for some reason, so I went with them!)  I love the blue birds sitting on the alligators' backs. And here they are all bundled up and ready to ship out to a sweet mama to be. I have to say that sewing for babies and their mamas makes me really happy. And looking at these adorable prints almost makes me want to have another baby! (Almost.)  ;)

My friend is having a baby boy. She told me some of the colors she was planning to use for his nursery were navy, orange, gray and turquoise. I had previously bought this adorable gray and orange fox ribbon from Hobby Lobby and thought it'd be a great ribbon to build a blanket off of.   I added in a few stripes and chevrons and was ready to sew!  Here's the finished product. I love minky. And navy minky in particular is so gorgeous. Here's the burp cloth set I made to match. It's not exactly the same theme but is at least in the same color wheel. The nautical map fabric is one of my current faves. I made a simple card to match with Martha Stewart stickers and tied 'em up with ribbon. Hope my friend likes them!
